The IEA HTS TCP held an Executive Committee meeting on 7 May 2021 and invited Stephen Barth from the Wind TCP to participate. The mission of the Wind TCP is to promote high impact wind energy research and communication through international collaboration. Stephen presented on the Wind TCP activities and engaged in conversation about the various activities from the HTS TCP. This is just another example of how the IEA TCPs collaborate and bring together technical experts to facilitate discussion on how the technology areas can develop synergies among their activities. For instance, there was a wind turbine project in Denmark that was removing the conventional copper coils in the generator and replacing them with superconductor-based wire to demonstrate the proof of concept.
